It's my birthday this weekend.
There are a lot of things about birthdays I don't much care for, like heightened expectations and attention on ME. I do love that the day falls in February near Valentine's Day. What's not to like about roses, cut papers and intense chocolate desserts?!
So far the birthday weekend lineup includes two funerals, teacher conferences and sitting with the smallest children through a three hour choral concert. My husband will be five hours away at his grandma's funeral.
We were supposed to have friends for dinner. She, a musician, was planning to sing and play the autoharp for me. Mr. Westberry Dad would have prepared sesame scallops.
So maybe its a bit more difficult to keep my chin up this year.
It shouldn't be hard to remember that two families lost loved ones and I am still surrounded by my amazing, albeit messy, brood. Perhaps we'll treat ourselves to a movie or dinner out (food challenge?!).
I am too blessed to be stressed!
